It’s been an incredible adventure so far starting our own business. At times I feel like Dr Jones looking for the Ark of the Covenant in the desert, guided only by cryptic notes of those that have gone before me, with no clear map, and no one wants to give up all of their secrets.
One of the things we have discovered along this journey though that was made clear through some of our research is the fact that there are five states that require any agency that sells travel services to residents of that state register as a seller of travel, and in some cases post a Surety Bond to guarantee that they can refund money to travelers.
This is a complex, and potentially expensive process for a new agency just starting out. While we are looking at our options we are erring on the side of caution.
So to protect both our business and our customers at this time we will not accept clients from the following states
- California
- Florida
- Hawaii
- Iowa
- Washington
As we register as a seller of travel in those states we will make an announcement on our blog and various social media outlets.
